EVA NON PIACE
Let's dive into a world of postmodern kitsch in an unknown time and place! Martina Dimitrova, the industrial and set designer with a strong desire to crush functionalist doctrines, was handing out such an invitation to her visual fairytale.
Dimitrova’s short film is telling the story of EVA - a celebrity living in Italy in the early 80s. The short was shown next to a conceptual scenographic extension: a cityscape miniature model, that transforms Italian renaissance architecture into a playful outdoor scenography. An homage to the infamous Ettore Sottsass, Robert Venturi, Matteo Thun and so many more.
The photos of the miniature model, shot by Julian Wiesemes are blurring the boundaries between physical objects and digital representations. Thanks to graphic artist Camille Walala (contributing with the text-panels for the film) and Japanese illustrator Yoko Honda (designing the movie poster and flyer), an even more extended view on postmodernism and 80s culture was being created.
The event at STUDIOLO Berlin was co-hosted by CAUSE & EFFECT Magazine, a hardback annual magazine that marries fashion and social politics.
